Sustainablity
Every pint starts with the humble honeybee
At Bulmers, every pint of cider starts with the humble honeybee. Our Irish apples grow on trees pollinated by these essential pollinators. Without them, there would be no blossoms, no bud, and no apples – making bees not just vital to the creation of our delicious Bulmers, but to life itself.
Proud members of the All Ireland Pollinator Plan
We are proud members of the All Ireland Pollinator Plan, who have collaborated with us on the drafting of our very own Bulmers Pollinator Pathway Plan to ensure we act in the best interest of all pollinators, starting with Clonmel and hopefully stretching into your back garden.
Part of that plan is to extend our pollinator pathway from Clonmel to Clones, that’s why we’re giving away 1,000 apple trees to Bulmers fans all over Ireland which will arrive in time to be planted in October into your back garden.
Be in with a chance of winning your own Bulmers apple tree when you pick up a pack in-store, a contribution from your purchase will go towards the Pollinator Pathway Plan, so even if you don’t win, you’re still supporting Ireland’s bees. Together we can provide safe places for bees all across Ireland.
One Third
Human activity has drastically reduced the amount of food and safe nesting sites for wild bees around Ireland. As a result, one third of Ireland’s bee species are threatened with extinction.
Troubling
The reason this is troubling is that Solitary Bees and Bumblebees are more efficient pollinators than honeybees, making them vital for the survival of our ecosystem and biodiversity.
13 KM
That’s why at Bulmers we maintain 13 kilometres of healthy hedgerows around the Orchard to support wild bees, pollinators and nesting birds and are adding over 2,000 apple trees to the Irish landscape.

Plastic reduction
Reducing Waste, Protecting Our Planet
At Bulmers, we are dedicated to reducing out environmental impact. That’s why we’ve signed up to the Repak Plastic Pledge, reinforcing our commitment to cutting down plastic packaging and improving recycling across our site.

Carbon reduction
A greener future
At Bulmers, we’re constantly finding new ways to reduce carbon emissions. Our latest initiative is the
installation of a state-of-the-art ammonia heat pump, now fully operational. This system produces
water at 85°C to preheat our existing heating systems, helping to cut our site’s carbon footprint by up to 2,000 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent.

Waste management
Water steward on site
Water is central to our sustainability strategy at Bulmers Clonmel, and we are proud to have a committed water steward’ on our site. Our site carefully monitors
water usage at every stage—from well to drain—tracking its full journey to ensure efficiency and minimise
waste.
Sustainable energy
Powering a Sustainable Future
At Bulmers Clonmel, our electricity is 100% renewable, generating 1.13MWh annually and cutting 290 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year.
